The Northern California Cherry Blossom Festival is celebration the cultural heritage of Japanese Americans residing in Northern California and is one of the largest and most prominent celebrations of Asian culture in the state. The festival draws over 200,000 to San Francisco’s Japantown, the largest Japantown in the U.S. and one of San Francisco’s most visited tourist destinations. This two-weekend long festival, like the cherry blossoms themselves has come to symbolize spring’s late arrival in famously fog-shrouded San Francisco. It includes a street fair, grand parade and various other cultural performances.

The Northern California Cherry Blossom Festival is produced by Sakura Matsuri, Inc., a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization dedicated to promoting an understanding and an appreciation of the unique customs and colorful traditions to the other inhabitants of this culturally diverse region.
